Donating blood at Blutspende SRK Zürich (Swiss Red Cross Zurich) is critical because blood cannot be produced artificially and is needed every single day for life-saving medical care.

Why Your Donation Matters

Constant Demand: Approximately 700 to 760 units of blood are required daily in Switzerland to treat patients.
Life-Saving Impact: One single donation can save up to three lives. It is essential for treating cancer, victims of severe accidents, complications during childbirth, and patients with chronic blood diseases.
Limited Shelf Life: Blood products expire quickly; for example, platelets only last 7 days, making a steady stream of new donors vital to prevent shortages.
Rare Blood Types: Certain blood groups, such as 0-negative (the "universal donor"), are often in critically low supply and are essential for emergency situations where a patient's blood type is unknown.
